Juanita E. Pantophlet-Laing, 67, died May 17, 2016, Miami, Florida.
Juanita was a resident of Port St. Lucie, FL since 2004, coming from Brooklyn, New York.
Juanita Eudorce Pantophlet-Laing was born on September 30, 1948 in San Nichlos, Aruba. She was the second daughter of Josephine (Maina) Pantophlet and Alleyn Chichester(Deceased).
Juanita, or Nita as she was known to close family and friends, was born and raised in San Nicholas, Aruba until she left for the United States to continue her education where she eventually obtained her Masters degree in Social Services. She dedicated her life to helping those in need, spending the majority of her professional career at Metropolitan Hospital and Woodhull Hospital where she eventually retired.
She relocated to Port Saint Lucie Florida where she became an active and dedicated member of Genesis Community Church, even teaching Sunday school.
Nita had a kind and loving nature about her. She was always willing to lend an ear to those needing a friend. Her generosity did not only extend to family and friends but she had an open heart and giving spirit to anyone needing guidance. Her home was always open to visitors and friends, which was especially apparent during the holiday season where Nita opened her doors to everyone.
She is survived by her husband Keith Laing. Her sons: Morris (Don) Lindesey, Dwain Lindesey (Theonie, daughter-in-law); stepchildren, Robert Laing and Barbara Laing. Her grandchildren: Amir, Anysa, Cashmir, Jazzmin, and Kashyra. Her sister: Brenda Alexis. Her nephew and niece: Wendell Alexis (Nixia) & Natasha Alexis. Her godson: Christopher Pantophlet. Her special cousins that she held dear to her heart: Carmen Pantophlet-Billey, Ana Pantophlet, Leono Pantophlet, and Rafeala Cook. Also, a host of cousins and other relatives left to mourn.
We have lost a bright light in losing Nita, but the spirit and love
that she always shared has left a deep mark in all of us. We continue to carry that love and light within us all. That was the kind of person that she was, touching everyone who crossed her path. Dear wife, dear mother, dear friend. We love you and you shall be greatly missed.
