June I. Herndon, 93, died December 12, 2013 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Mrs. Herndon was born in Decatur, Alabama and moved to Fort Pierce in 1977 coming from Wimauma, Florida.
June was a member of the Palm Vista Church of God in Fort Pierce. She was a head counselor of the girls at the church youth camp for 25 years and she loved to cook and work with the church. She was also a leader of the Women of Promise for 10 years and would cook meals monthly for them.
Survivors include her sons, Roland “Bo” Herndon, Sr. and wife, Louise of Fort Pierce, FL and Greg Herndon and wife Debi of Lehigh Acres, FL; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dewey Herndon, daughter, Darlene Herndon, Barbara Dansby, and Carmen June Herndon, and son, Donnie Herndon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Palm Vista Church of God, 700 South 33rd Street, Fort Pierce, FL 34947.
Services: Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from 10-11 AM with a service to follow at 11:00 AM at Palm Vista Church of God. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service.
