Kathleen C. Giel, 89, of Fort Pierce Florida died Thursday September 29, 2011 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Port Saint Lucie, Florida after a brief illness.
She was born November 9, 1921 in Maspeth, L.I., NY. She lived in Fort Pierce for 38 years coming from East Meadow, NY. She was married 59 years to the late Warren Giel.
Kathleen, (Kitty) was a loving mother to sons Douglas, Kenneth and Christopher. Kathleen had a love of adventure. Kathleen was first employed with Crum and Foster Insurance Company. She later worked for Harbor Cove Federal S&L and retired in 1983. At a time when women stayed home, she took flying lessons. In addition to her sights in the sky, she could snorkel with the best of them well into her 80’s. She loved to work in the garden, go boating, play golf, read, play cards and travel. Kathleen enjoyed life to the fullest. Kathleen is survived by her sons, Douglas and his wife Linda of Fort Pierce and Abingdon, Va., Kenneth and his wife Johnie Sue of Vero Beach, FL., Chrisopher and wife Mary Ellen of Mount Sinai, NY ; grandchildren Ryan Giel, and wife Diana, Courtney Kent and husband Brian, Chris Hawkes, Tauni Dawson and husband John and great-grandchildren; Jack, Dylan, Milania, Lauren, and Kornelijus,; nieces, nephews and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Helen Catholic Church, 2085 Tallahassee Ave., Vero Beach, FL on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011 at noon.
