Kay E. Culbertson, 64, passed away on April 14, 2017 in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Kay was born in Honolulu Hawaii on July 21, 1952. Being born into a Coast Guard family her parents were stationed in several locations finally settling in Fort Pierce in 1962.
Kay touched everyone she met in a very special way. She was a wonderful, unique and beautiful spirit inside and out. Full of life with her infectious smile she was also full of aggravation and antagonism. Kay always “picked because she loved”. She had many facial expressions and always had quick witted comments.
Her passions included: her wife, Cheryl, her Dodge Ram, daily Dunkin Donuts visits, her motorcycle, camping, traveling to the mountains, horseback riding, fishing, yardwork, and was a forever fan of the Miami Dolphins.
Her place of peace and tranquility was going to the water, especially the Fort Pierce Jetty, and she truly loved the outdoors. Kay was as warm and bright as the sunshine she loved so much.
Kay was Cheryl’s life partner, best friend, and soulmate for 20 years. She was also her 95-year-old mother, Julia’s, care giver for the past 8 years.
She is survived by her wife Cheryl A. Boltz and her mother Julia Y. Culbertson of PSL, FL. Brother Victor Culbertson of Ft. Pierce, nephews Brad and Scott Culbertson, and Great Nephews Ronnie Culbertson, Gabriel Culbertson, and Great Niece Kendall Culbertson. She was predeceased in death by her father William P. Culbertson.
Kay attended Dan McCarty High School and graduated in 1970. She retired after 44 years of employment at Southern Bell, Bellsouth, and AT&T being a life member of the Telecom Pioneers. She was a proud member of the St. Lucie County Fair Association for more than 30 years and a distinguished Trustee for the past 16, and was the chairperson of the Budweiser Brew Crew. Kay was an avid motorcycle rider and the 1st member of Women in the Wind Sunshine Sisters Chapter of Palm Beach for the past 4 years. Other organizations include Eastern Star Ruth Chapter #7 of Fort Pierce, Florida and a 14 year member of the Fort Pierce Elks Lodge #1520.
