Kenneth E. Crosby
Kenneth E. “Gene” Crosby, 77, of Fort Pierce passed away on September 15, 2014. Born in Vero Beach, Florida, he joined the United States Air Force in August 1958. During his 22 years of honorable service Ken and his family served in England, Libya, Germany, Thailand, and stateside assignments in Illinois, Mississippi, Montana, Alabama, and Nebraska. In August of 1980 he concluded his service and returned to Fort Pierce.
On his return home Ken began a second career with Florida Power and Light as a Quality Control Inspector. During his time with FP&L he excelled in assignments in Sanford, Florida, Turkey Point Nuclear Facility, and St. Lucie Nuclear facility.
As a man of great faith, Ken was an active member of Parkview Baptist Church who taught Sunday school and ministered to the more senior members of the church. In the spirit of Christian fellowship, he would often open his own home to host seasonal parties and social gatherings. Ken’s love for the Lord was rivaled only by his love of family.
Ken married the love of his life in April 1958, Alice Joann Wall of Fort Pierce. Together they traveled the world and raised three children with love, encouragement, and laughter. His four grandchildren adored their Grandpa and always enjoyed the time they spent with him. Ken valued family above all else and took great joy in reunions with family and life long friends. Having never met a stranger, Ken had a multitude of friends from every walk of life who cherished his friendship and will miss his sense of humor and kindness.
Ken is survived by his loving wife Joann, his daughter Kimila Day-Scovill of Atlanta, Georgia, son Kenneth Crosby Jr. of Montclair, Virginia, and son Joseph Crosby of Vero Beach. He is also survived by a sister Ruth Priest of Fort Pierce, a sister Bette Hight of Aberdeen, North Carolina, and a brother Bob Crosby of Vero Beach.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on September 22nd at Parkview Baptist Church followed by interment at White City Cemetery.
Gene/Chief, we love you and miss you. Thank you for the joy and love you gave us all.
