Kristeen Lynn O'Neal (Kristy) December 18, 1970 – April 3, 2025

Kristeen Lynn O'Neal, lovingly known as Kristy, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, in Fort Pierce, Florida, at the age of 54. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, daughter, and a loyal friend.

Born on December 18, 1970, in Vero Beach, Florida, Kristy was a vibrant and passionate soul whose love for life touched everyone she met. She grew up in Fort Pierce and attended Westwood High School, where she formed deep friendships and began building the strong, compassionate character that would define her life.

In 1987, Kristy married John Hicks Jr., in Vero Beach. Their love and commitment stood as a lasting example of partnership, and together they built a life filled with laughter, love, and deep-rooted family values.

With a calling to serve others, Kristy pursued training in Emergency Medical Services and Firefighting at the Georgia Fire Academy in Forsyth. Her dedication to serving her community was evident in everything she did.

Kristy had an immense love for animals and opened her heart and home to many over the years through fostering. Whether it was a stray in need of healing or a rescue waiting for a forever home, Kristy’s compassion never wavered.

Her heart for service extended into her community. She spent countless hours volunteering, especially enjoying time spent doing crafts and creative activities with the elderly. Her presence brought joy, comfort, and companionship to so many.

She also found joy in collecting rocks from around the world — each one a small treasure that reflected her wonder for nature and travel. She adored antique furniture and the history it carried. A true football enthusiast, Kristy could always be found cheering on her favorite teams, but above all, her greatest joy was her family.

Kristy’s warmth, humor, and strength will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave so freely and the lives she touched so deeply.

Kristy is survived by her mother; Peggy Gahn of Vero Beach, FL, son; Travis (Deborah) Hicks of Fort Pierce, FL, daughter; Katelyn (David) Chu of Saint Cloud, FL, grandson; Deegan Hicks and granddaughter; Liliana Chu.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, 2:00 PM,at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Church in Vero Beach, Florida.
