Larry L. Herndon

Larry L. Herndon, 67, of Port St. Lucie, died Thursday afternoon, March 10, 2016, at the Treasure Coast Hospice House, Ft. Pierce.

He was born November 11, 1948, in Miami, the son of Ardell (Vaughn) Herndon and the late Herschel Herndon. He was a long time resident of Gainesville, moving to Port St. Lucie three years ago.

He was a self employed contractor until his retirement.

Mr. Herndon was a volunteer firefighter in New York City and a member of the Moose Lodge in Gainesville. He was known to friends and family as a mighty hunter, and loved spending time in the Everglades catching fish and hunting gators and deer.

Larry is survived by his wife, Susan Herndon of Williston; a son, Larry L. Herndon Jr. of Orlando; daughters, Regina M. Herndon of Orlando and Christine M. Herndon of Port St. Lucie; grandchildren, Michael R. Herndon, Angelina M. Herndon, Christina M. Channel and Hunter L. Herndon all of Orlando; great grandchildren, Mark R. Collins and Belle L. Marshall both of Orlando; his mother, Ardell Herndon of Port St. Lucie; a brother, Terry L. Herndon of Gainesville; a sister, Debra Scutari of Port St. Lucie; his two former wives, Eileen M. Herndon of Orlando and Cynthia Kean of Port St. Lucie; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Richard L. Herndon of Port St. Lucie who died in 1995, and Lee L. Herndon of Miami who died August 6th.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a visitation from 10 am to noon on Saturday, April 2, 2016, in the Chapel of the Haisley Funeral Home, 3015 Okeechobee Rd., Ft. Pierce. Memorial services will be held immediately following the visitation at 12pm noon in the chapel. Reception will follow in the Haisley Reception Center.
