On January 28, 2024, Larry Clyde Purvis made his way to be with his parents, grandparents, Grandmama, and Big Rich in Heaven.
Larry was born on September 11, 1946, to Marjorie C. and James A. Purvis Jr, in Savannah, GA. He graduated from Herschel V. Jenkins High School and attended Gordon Military College before joining the United States Air Force and serving in Vietnam. Once out of the military, he made a very successful career in window and door sales…something he knew more about than probably anyone…and could talk about until the end of time.
Larry was a character… he was SUCH a people person. He will be remembered by all for being the life of every party, his mad Johnny Cash karaoke skills, and his smile that could light up any room.
He loved his Country, the great state of Texas, country music (George Jones, Keith Whitley, Tanya Tucker, Jonnie Cash to name a few), cowboy boots, cowboy hats, a good band, karaoke, and boy oh boy… did he LOVE his Texas A&M Aggie football team! But, above all else, he loved his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Ronald Purvis (Chris), his sister, Marla Purvis-Winter (Al), and his children Alicia Passaretti (Jon), Tanya Wood (Chris), Scott Purvis (Chassidy), Nicholas Purvis (Kimber) and Alexys Gagne (Paul), as well as his two bonus daughters Desiree Ascevich (Todd), and Brittany Manley (Danny). Also left to cherish his memory are his 18 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his friends….too many to count.
His family would like to thank JoAnne Lap and Michelle Purvis for the huge part they played in his life and the many years of love and care they gave him.
Our dad wouldn’t want a sad gathering. He wanted a party with his family and friends gathered to tell funny stories and talk about him. So, we will honor him with a celebration of life that will be held at a later date in both Bryan/College Station, TX and Savannah, GA.
Memorial donations may be made to the Texas A&M 12th Man Foundation.
“When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure”. We will treasure the memories of the good times with you, Dad. You made a lasting impact on all of us, and your legacy will live on. Until we meet again…..
