Larry Ray Stewart, Sr.

Larry Ray Stewart, Sr., 82, passed away on March 16, 2023 at his home in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Larry was born in Wheelwright, Kentucky on September 14, 1940, to parents Millard Ray Stewart and Mildred Juanita Berry.

His first job was working at Armco Steel in Ashland, KY.  In his younger years, he was a flight instructor at the Airport in Worthington, Kentucky before going on to own Stewart Realty of Ashland, Kentucky.

In 1979, he made the move from Ashland to Port St. Lucie, Florida. While here, he started Preferred Properties of North Hutchinson Island. Larry was a Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the Elk’s Club. He loved flying, scuba diving, spending time with his grandchildren, and was known to be a real daredevil.

He was also a nature lover. He enjoyed walking the trails with his dogs, setting on his patio feeding his squirrels & birds, and taking care of his beautiful old oak tree.

He was a passionate man, our father, best friend, and most of all he taught us to stand strong even during the toughest storms.

Larry was preceded in passing by his wife, Diane L. Stewart; his parents, Millard R. Stewart and Mildred J. Stewart; and his sister, Lynne Godby. He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly (Rick Ankiel) Conley of North Hutchinson Island, FL and Cheryl (Steve) Davis of Daytona Beach, FL; son Larry (Marsha) Stewart, Jr. of Fort Pierce, FL; brothers, Forrest Stewart of Ashland, KY and Michael Stewart of Burnsville, WV; sister, Sandra Wood of Beckley, WV; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A private service will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce.  An online guest book may be signed at www.haisleyfuneralhome.com
