Larry Mitchell Taft, 72, passed away on August 11, 2022 at Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, Florida. His loving wife of 54 years and 4 months, Beverly Taft, was by his side. Larry and Beverly had two children, Larry Michael Taft, of Ft. Pierce, and Sharon Perkins (Ron), of Port St. Lucie. He was so proud of his three grandsons, Jeffery (Ashley), David, and Michael. Larry had a sister, Verdie Hudson (Gary), of Ocala and a brother, James Mitchell Taft (Anne), of Port St. Lucie. He was predeceased by his parents, Jessie and Janie Taft, and his sister, Lucille O’Berry.
Larry was born on October 5, 1949 in Ware County, Georgia. He moved to Ft. Pierce when he was a teenager. He met and fell in love with Beverly Parsons. They married on April 11, 1968 and built a happy life together. Their special song was “Unchained Melody”. He made his living as a tile setter and was the best in his trade for over 30 years. Larry was a quiet man, who enjoyed spending time with his family, watching football, NASCAR, old westerns and listening to George Jones and Buddy Holly. He will be forever missed by his family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Hargraves Chapel Cemetery, in Millwood, Georgia, at a later date.
