Leroy E. Olson, 85, died November 12, 2011 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.

Lee was born May 26, 1926 in Youngstown, Ohio to Carl L. and Florence Olson. He graduated from South High School in 1943 then served in the Navy Air Corps as a pilot during WWII. Lee graduated from The Ohio State University in 1948 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

He married June Ritter in 1948 and had 4 children. He is survived by his wife, June, and his 3 daughters: Karen (Bill) Catalano of Columbus, Ohio, Bev Olson of Boardman, Ohio, and Barb (Ken) Beraduce of Boardman, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his son, Bill, in 1974. He also leaves 5 grandchildren; Mark (Blaire) Catalano of Columbus, Ohio, Chris Catalano of Louisville, Kentucky, Jenny (Mike) Elsner of Columbus, Ohio, Betsy (Brian) Buckley of Findlay, Ohio, and Janet (Matt) Hassey of Poland, Ohio, and 3 great grandchildren: Avery, Brady and Ashley Catalano. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Dolly Olson and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Norman (Betty), Kenneth (Donna), and William.

Lee worked for the Ohio State Dept. of Highways, the Erie Railroad Engineering Dept., was a partner in Porterfield and Binger and was owner of McCartney and Sampsell, Inc. He was a Rotary member and a Paul Harris Scholar, a member of First Covenant Church where he served as chairman, deacon, and on the board of trustees, a member and president of the Boardman Board of Education, a member and president of the Youngstown Club and a member and president of the Boardman Canfield Swim Club. Lee attended First United Methodist Church in Fort Pierce.

Contributions may be made in his name to the Ft. Pierce Rotary Scholarship Fund or to a charity of your choice.

His memorial service will be celebrated in Youngstown, Ohio.
