Leslie Junior Webb, 82 years old, passed away and joined our heavenly Father on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2017 at 12:05 am at Treasure Coast Hospice in Fort Pierce, Florida surrounded by his family and friends. “Papa Les”, as his family and friends fondly called him, was born on July 19, 1935 in Fort Pierce, Florida to Lefton Webb and Elizabeth “Bessie” Thigpin of Fort Pierce, Florida. He had two sisters, Beatrice Storey and Grace Rogers and a brother, Henry Rogers and a half brother, Jessie Boatwright.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1952 during the height of the Korean War and also did a tour of duty in the Vietnam War as Petty Boat Commander. He was also stationed in Subic Bay in Olangapo City, Philippine where he met and later on married his wife Nora Gerardo Webb, from Loaog, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He retired from the service in 1982. He worked for the Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer after his retirement from the Navy for 11 years. He had an AA degree from Jones College and a Bachelors Degree at Indian River Community College. They opened the Webb Childcare Center in Fort Pierce; the community was so blessed to have them because they were so dedicated, loving and caring to all the kids that they took care of.
He was an active parishioner of St. Anastasia Catholic Church and member of the choir. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also an active member of the Philippine American Association of the Treasure Coast Inc. and served one time as a the vice president. He was a big supporter of the Lady of Fatima.
His family and friends will dearly miss him, especially his wit and humor. And most importantly he was devoted and loving, and a caring husband and family man.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nora Gerardo Webb; adopted son, Vic Ventulan and grandchildren, Vince Ventulan and Ysabella Ventulan, Winnie Lim, nephew Louie Gerardo, niece Faye (Robert) Hawley and many relatives, nieces and nephews in the States and the Philippines.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, 3015 Okeechobee Road, Fort Pierce, FL. A Mass will be held on
Friday, January 5, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, 401 South 33rd Street, Fort Pierce, FL. Burial will follow at White City Cemetery in the Veterans Section.
