Lewis "Lew" Petrie

March 27, 1951 — December 3, 2022

Lew Petrie of Port Saint Lucie, FL passed away peacefully in his home on December 3rd, 2022. Lew had been battling long term medical conditions.

Lew was born in March of 1951 in Camden New Jersey. He was raised for the majority of his childhood in Florida. He went to Haines City High School and then enrolled into the US Army. Lew served our Country in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1977.

While stationed in Fort Richardson, Alaska he met and married his wife Greta Scrivens. When he was discharged from the army, Lew returned to Florida with his family and continued in the field of welding fabrication.

When Lew was not working he loved to spend time outdoors. Lew was an avid hunter and fisherman with a passion for the outdoors and wildlife. He was a true sportsman. Lew enjoyed scuba diving, camping, and boating with family and friends. He also loved to work on cars and trucks. He was a knowledgeable and skilled mechanic which he passed down to his children.

Lew was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, James and Ellarie Martin, Lew was preceded in death by his brother David Martin.

Besides his wife of 50 years, Greta Petrie of Port Saint Lucie; he leaves behind his sons, Michael Scrivens and James Petrie; daughters, Melissa Waldron (spouse Michael) and Shelly Petrie; brother, James “Jimmy” Martin (Jimmy’s loving partner Sharon Ross); sister Tacy Stewart (spouse Eldon); sister Martha Martin. His grandchildren that he loved dearly include Hayley, Amanda (Spouse Jason), Lacey, Taylor, and Heather. His great grandchildren include Parker, Willow, Carson and River. He will also be leaving behind many nieces and nephews.

There will be a Graveside Service on Thursday, December 8th at 2pm at Rolling Oaks Cemetery
2200 Del Rio Blvd Port Saint Lucie, FL 34953.
