Lula H. Bell, 96, died April 7, 2013 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.
Mrs. Bell was born in Craigsville, Virginia and moved to Ft. Pierce in 1982 coming from Boston, Massachusetts.
Prior to retirement, she was a trainer and supervisor for certified mental health caregivers at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center and was a dorm mother at Northeastern University in Boston. After moving to Florida, she volunteered for the Council on Aging-Helping Hands program where she helped organize activities and taught sewing and crocheting. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Mrs. Bell was well traveled, loved fishing, and was an artist. She enjoyed doing ceramics, needle point, and crocheting.
Survivors include her daughter Elizabeth Anne Duarte of Ft. Pierce, FL; son Antonio B. Duarte, Sr. of Ft. Pierce, FL; sister Mary Davis of Merced, CA and Betty Wells of Clifton Forge, VA; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard H. Bell, son Carroll H. Bell, and brothers Henry Hamilton, Frank Hamilton, Tolbert Hamilton, and Earl Hamilton, and granddaughter Carol Anne Duarte.
