Mable Blackburn was born on July 23, 1918 in Breeden, West Virginia. She and her husband of 69 years, Glen Blackburn, moved to Florida in 1951 where they began the Fort Pierce-based Glen Blackburn Trucking. With hard work and dedication, she and her husband ran a successful business and were devoted parents to their two daughters, Glenna and Linda. Mable was known for her delightful cooking and baking of old southern recipes and her expert sewing ability. She kept a lovely home that was always open to her family and friends with warmth and love.She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands Glenna and Edwin Rucks and Linda and Carl Carlton Jr.; four grandchildren Glen Chastain, Bonnie Rucks, Glenna Sigmon and Cara Perry; and eight great grandchildren Victoria Bostic, Rachel Roehm, Sara Roehm, Danielle Chastain, Marcus Sigmon, Carlton Wade Sigmon, Shelby Kay Sigmon and Will Perry; as well as her nephew Charlie Rowe, nieces Eleanor Taylor and Mable Lineberger and sister-in-law Lou Kirk, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Blackburn; her sister, Grace Rowe of Prestonsburg, KY; and her brother, Howard Kirk of Dunlow, West Virginina.Memorial contributions may be made to the Treasure Coast Hospices, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997.Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, June 22, 2007 from 4-6 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. A service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at White City Cemetery.
