Major Reuther (Ret.) was born in Weehawken, New Jersey and moved to St. Lucie County in 1977.
Steve retired in 2013 from the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office after 32 years of service. He received his master’s degree from Barry University in Miami and graduated from the F.B.I. National Association. He truly enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, loved to travel, and was an avid patch collector. He was a member of the Midway Road Baptist Church, Fort Pierce.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Becky Reuther of Fort Pierce, FL; sons, Stephen (Katie) Reuther of Lakeland, FL and Matthew (Melissa) Reuther of Fort Pierce, FL; mother, Ruth McInerney of Port St. Lucie, FL; brothers, Thomas (JoAnn) Reuther and Brian (Ruthann) Reuther both of Port St. Lucie, FL; grandchildren, Tripp & Bryce Reuther and Savannah & Colton Reuther and brother-in-law, Tim (Denise) Bloomfield and his beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Joseph Reuther.
Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 10:00-11:00 AM with a service to follow at 11:00 AM at Westside Church, 3361 S. Jenkins Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981. Burial will follow at White City Cemetery, Fort Pierce.
