Margaret Debra Ann Neufeld

Margaret Debra Ann “Deb” Neufeld, 71, died November 29, 2024 in Hutchinson Island, Florida.

Deb was the youngest of four children adopted from birth by Dr. Otto J. Neufeld and his wife Anabel Fredericka Bulpitt Neufeld. Born in Inglewood, CA, she was reared in a rather fabulous home at 3030 E. Chevy Chase Dr., Glendale, CA 91206. Both her parents are deceased, as is her brother, Donald Otto Neufeld. In that family she was afforded many opportunities, including world travel, snow and water-skiing trips, attendance at plays, ballets, and symphonies, and lessons in drama, quartet/solo/choir singing, ballet/gymnastics/tap, piano, violin, flute, and accordion. She performed with the Neufeld Mello D’s and the Glendale Chorale, along with joining multiple adult groups performing Handel’s Messiah in four cities.

She attended Glendale (Union) Academy from 1st through 12th grades, graduating cum laude in 1971. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Loma Linda University, cum laude, in 1975 and a Master of Science from the University of Rochester, cum laude (NY). She earned teaching credentials in the states of California, Colorado, New York, and Florida and retired after 35 years of contracted service in education. She worked as a teacher, educational consultant, and an administrator, maintaining certification in six different areas. Her other certifications were in insurance sales and SCUBA diving.

She married and raised a son, “Rocky” who married and has 5 children.

After retirement, she enjoyed very long walks on the beach during low tide (usually picking up trash by the bagsful), yoga classes, and plenty of meditation. She also volunteered for Take Stock in Children, soup kitchens, and the food bank.

Deb was certainly not ambitious or competitive, preferring to discover how she could be a blessing to this world. Her message to those who survived her is that of eternal gratitude for giving her love and compassion, and to share that gratitude each day with all who are in their lives.
