Maria Cartaya, 85, passed away on February 02, 2023 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Maria was born on January 13, 1938 in Oriente Province of Cuba to parents Dionisio Sanchez and Maria Camacho. She eventually made the move to the United States, where she attended the Wilfred Academy of Hair and Beauty Culture in White Plains, New York. She became a hair stylist and opened her own shop, Nieves Beauty Salon.
She is survived by her sons, Robert and his wife Sherry and Oscar and his wife Myra; grandchildren, Isabella Maria (16), Alexander Manuel (12), Kierstin (29), Kiana (25), and Codee (23); and her great-grandson, Carter (7). She was preceded in death by Ignacio Cartaya, her loving husband of 18 years.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm with a service to follow at 1:00 pm at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Park.
