Mrs. Butt was born on January 1, 1921 in Westville, Nova Scotia, Canada, the daughter of Reverend Henry Friesen and Myrtle Grace Mont.
She came to the United States in 1924 and lived in New York State and was educated there. She came to Florida in 1979. She was a member of the Soundsations and the Jazz Society. She was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include her daughter, Phoebe Jenny of New York, Jane Parret of Vero Beach, FL; son, Thomas Gifford of Port St. Lucie, FL; stepsons, Samuel Gifford of Maine and Frederick Gifford of Vero Beach; sister, Ruth Dennison of Fort Pierce, FL and 11 grandchildren.
A service will be held next year in New York.
