Mario A. DiGuiseppi, 88, of Ft. Pierce, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017, at the Treasure Coast Hospice House, Ft. Pierce, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 27, 1928, in New Haven, CT, the son of the late Donato and Donata (Latanza) DiGuiseppi. He has been a resident of Ft. Pierce since 1962, coming from New Haven, CT.
Mario was a proud World War II Veteran, serving with the US Army.
Mr. DiGuiseppi was the proprietor of Mario's Barber Shop on N. 37th St., Ft. Pierce for over 50 years.
He had a strong love for his Catholic Faith, serving as an altar boy in New Haven, CT, through his many years as a Communicant and Eucharistic Minister with St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Ft. Pierce. He was in charge of the church's bingo nights and enjoyed helping the homeless through the church's Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
Mario also loved his time spent as a civilian volunteer riding along with the FL Highway Patrol. He was a Past Commander of both the American Legion Post #40 and VFW Post #10554, and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Anastasia Council #15429.
Among all this, he had a great love for his family, especially playing host to all the generations of family at their weekly Sunday dinner.
Mario is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Rose Marie (Gargamelli) DiGuiseppi of Ft. Pierce; son Donato A. and wife Donna DiGuiseppi of Ft. Pierce; daughters, Donna A. Ortado of Ft. Pierce, Jo-Ann N. and husband Mark Staley of Port St. Lucie and Karen L. Barbato of Vero Beach; seven grandsons and one granddaughter; nine great grandsons; a brother, Andrew DiGuiseppi of Ft. Pierce and a sister, Nancy Bouchard of Ft. Pierce; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 3, 2017, at 1pm at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Ft. Pierce. Friends and relatives are invited to a reception following the Mass at the Haisley Reception Center, 3015 Okeechobee Rd., Ft. Pierce. Burial will be at a later date.
