MARION L. RUNTE

Marion L. Runte, longtime resident of Fort Pierce, Florida, joined her Lord and Savior, September 26, 2010. Mrs. Runte was born July 21, 1919 in Northern Illinois. She was an active member of the Indian River Presbyterian Church of Ft. Pierce.

Always interested in children’s and youth work, she helped to organize the Presbyterian Day School and was the Director and lead teacher until 1973. Mrs. Runte taught kindergarten teachers at the Presbyterian Synod School at Lakeland, FL several summers. She also directed Presbyterian Youth Camps at Hugh Taylor Birch Park several summers. Marion also enjoyed working with Brownie Girl Scout Troops in White City, FL. She was currently active in the Esther Circle, XYZ Club, and she helped to organize the Merry Widows group, bringing the idea from her church in North Carolina.

Her children include Larry Runte and his wife Marlene, Jim Runte and his wife Rhonda and Jeanette Runte White and her husband Alan White. There are six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Runte is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Harold R. Runte. He entered the Church Triumphant July 22, 1995. Other survivors include sister-in-law, Dorothy Meads of Fort Pierce, FL and one brother-in-law, Earl Runte and wife Mary Ann of Phoenix, Arizona and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made in Marion’s memory to Hospice of the Treasure Coast, 5000 Dunn Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 28th from 5 to 7:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. A Service will be held on Wednesday, September 29th, at 10:00 A.M. at Indian River Presbyterian Church, Dr. Dana Allin officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
