Marjorie Hilton Routt, 97, died September 25, 2010 at her residence in Ft. Pierce, FL.
Mrs. Routt was a native of Newport, Rhode Island, and was a resident of Ft. Pierce for the past 37 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Roy Routt in 1997.
Mrs. Routt attended Newport Business College and received a degree in Business Administration. She and her husband worked for the Federal Government in Washington, D.C. for 35 and 40 years, respectively, traveling for their agencies throughout the U.S. and abroad.
Mrs. Routt was employed as an Administrative Assistant in several government departments including assignments to several Presidential and Congressional committees. During her tenure in the Agricultural Department, she founded the first travel club for Federal active and retired employees, which was the forerunner for other Federal government travel clubs. She retired from the U.S. Coast Guard, Department of Transportation, in 1972 and she and her husband moved to Florida in 1973.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Routt were well known for their philanthropic custom of generously donating to many charitable organizations throughout the area as well as out of State charities.

A service will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 5:30 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
