In 1975 Mary Ann moved with her young children and then husband to Fort Pierce, FL – a place that would become “home”, a place where she faithfully raised and cared for her children and a place where countless family memories were made and a place where she would establish her professional identity.
In professional life Mary Ann was a realtor. She started her real estate career with Hoyt C Murphy Realtors. Her time with the Murphy organization laid a foundation for success that culminated with Mary Ann earning her real estate broker’s license and ultimately opening her own brokerage operation – Top Producer Realty. Beyond a means of support, real estate was truly a passion for Mary Ann. It spoke to her intense and genuine fascination with people and her propensity for forming friendships. It was a regular occurrence for her clients to become close friends – a most important measure of success for Mary Ann.
As with all successful real estate professionals Mary Ann had a reputation for driving her supporting partners hard on behalf of her clients. They will tell you she was always very straightforward with her expectations. However, they will also tell you she was always loyal and forgiving on the occasion things did not work out as planned.
Mary Ann was affectionately known to family and friends by many names i.e. Mom, Grandmary, Gmar, Mary, Aunt Mary, Mohjito Mary, Miss America and Diva. Her greatest pleasure in life came from time spent with her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. She particularly enjoyed entertaining at her home located on the tranquil banks of the north fork of the St. Lucie River. Other interests included a love for college football with a particular affinity for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
Although plagued by many physical setbacks later in life, Mary Ann lived those years undeterred and courageously. Her eternal optimism and youthful personality never failed and will no doubt once again be greatly enjoyed as she is reunited with her departed family and friends in Heaven.
