Mary Ruth Goodwin Giger, widow of Marcus A. Giger, died November 8th, 2014 at the age of 92.
Born June 22, 1922 in Hastings, Fl to T. R. and Ethel Belle Goodwin, she moved to Ft. Pierce with her family in 1926. She was educated in local schools and attended Florida State University in Tallahassee and completed her graduate studies at Florida Atlantic University specializing in Administration and Supervision and Early Childhood Education.
During her 35 years with the Florida public school system, she especially enjoyed working with kindergarten and first grade children, as a teacher, a principal, and later an Adjunct Professor at Florida Atlantic University in the field of Early Childhood Education.
After retirement, she began teaching adults in the Christian Fellowship class at the Frist United Methodist church where she had been a member since the age of 12.
She was predeceased by her son, Richard Alan Giger. She is survived by her step-grandson, Kenneth (Jessica) Keaton and great grandchildren, Kameron, Karissa, and Kalena Keaton of Sebastian as well as an extended family of many beloved nieces and nephews and their families.
