Mary Helen Angell Gath, 82, was received into the arms of our Lord at 4 PM January 25th 2010 with her family by her side.

She was born in Providence, Rhode Island and moved to Ft. Pierce in 1962. She was a member of St. Anastasia parish. She taught at St. Anastasia School for 7 years then in St. Lucie County Schools for 20 years. Mary served as past president of the American Association of University Women, Ft. Pierce, past president of Delta Kappa Gamma TAU Chapter, Ft. Pierce, past president of VFW Ladies Auxiliary #10554, Ft. Pierce.

Mary was devoted to her family. Survivors include her daughters, Karen Metzger of Ft. Lauderdale, Karolyn Miller (John) of Vero Beach, Kathryn Walters (Scott), Kim Littrell and Shannon Gath of Port St. Lucie, Kris Gath (Leslie Tharp) of Gainesville; 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; beloved aunt, Mildred Angell of Providence, RI; cousins, and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bill Gath, son, William Gregory Gath, parents, Helen Modelane (Joseph) and Jerry Angell (Tina), brother, Nicholas Angell, and granddaughter, Amy Breeding.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997 or to John Carroll High School Scholarship Fund for Iniko Eplin.

Services: Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Friday, January 29th with a Wake Service at 6:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home in Fort Pierce. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 30th at St. Anastasia Catholic Church. Burial will follow at White City Cemetery.
