Mary J. (Angst) Traub
May 15, 1926 – May 1, 2023 (age 96)
Born in Pine Grove, PA, Mary was the daughter of Roy and Prudence (Workman) Angst. She was the wife of the Louis A. Traub.
Mary attended Blythe Township High School and was a graduate of the Philadelphia School of Practical Nursing. She worked for 23 years caring for special needs children at the White Haven State School and Hospital.
Mary was a member of the VFW, Post 5010 of Freeland and the Christ Lutheran Church in Hazleton, PA.
Mary’s husband Louis passed in 1985 and Mary spent the years before her passing caring for her 3 surviving sons and their spouses and children. She lost numerous siblings and relatives over the past years including her daughter-in-law Debra and her grandson David who crossed over and greeted her when she arrived along with her husband Louis and her parents. Mary loved to play cards, paint, read and do puzzles. She loved dressing up for Halloween and getting “dolled up” to go out for dinner. Mary spent her life caring for others and was always the first to someone’s door to help. She cared for her husband who had health issues, her mother-in-law in the last years of her life and various in-laws, neighbors and friends too numerous to mention. She enjoyed the last years of her life in Norristown, PA and in Port St. Lucie Florida.
Mary came from a very large family and survived the passing of many siblings over the past years. Surviving are Dorothy (Dolly) Christ, Alan Angst, Leo (Teddy) Angst, Bruce (Busey) Angst and Beverly (Kitty) Hallick.
Mary is survived by her three sons. Kevin Traub residing in Maryland (husband of late wife Debra Delaney Traub), Kurt Traub residing in Pennsylvania (husband of Tammy Bubacz Traub) and Robert Traub residing in Florida (husband of Cheryl Pawlowski Traub). Mary shared her unending love with her extended family which includes grandchildren: Sandra Richmond, Jonathan Selleck, Brittany Traub (Partner of Christopher Steinhauer), Timothy Strunk (husband of Vanessa), Carissa Kramer (partner of Trent Washington) and Erin Kramer (partner of Dorian Caprario). She showered her grace and kindness on her 11 great grandchildren (Deenna, Dominic, Steven, Timmy, Ryker, Delyla, Troy, Alessa, Louis, Mars and Daxon (expected in July).
Mary will deeply be missed by anyone lucky enough to have crossed paths with her and her charisma and kindness will be carried on in her honor by those left behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Mary's honor to the American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org/
