Mary McLoughlin

Mary Therese McLoughlin (nee Gorham), 83, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2024.  Mary was born on March 29, 1941, in Lake Worth, Florida.   Mary’s bright blue eyes, beautiful smile, joie de vivre, and sense of humor lit up every room she stepped into.   Mary cherished her catholic faith and was an inspiration to all those around her.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Vincent Raymond Gorham, Sr.   and Ruth Leola Gorham (nee McSweeney), her brothers Vincent Raymond Gorham, Jr., and Daniel John Gorham.  She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Kevin McLoughlin; her sister Jean Bourgeois (Joe) of Lake Worth, FL, her children Kevin of Fort Pierce, FL, Michael (Lisa) of Biloxi, MS, Kerry McLoughlin-Volz (Dave) of Riverside, CA, and Ann Marie Miserocchi (Pete) of Fort Pierce, FL; 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Mary graduated high school from Rosarian Academy in West Palm Beach and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Barry University.  She worked as a pediatric nurse at Jackson Memorial in Miami, Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC, and Fort Pierce Memorial Hospital.  She also worked as a nurse in orthopedics at HCA Hospital in Port St. Lucie.  She was very active at St. Marks Catholic Church in Fort Pierce as one of the founding families of the parish.  She acted as President of the Council of Catholic Women, served many years as an extraordinary minister and as the parish nurse.

Mary was a devoted spouse and a nurturing mother and grandmother.  She loved animals as she grew up with horses and always had pets (dogs or cats).  She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, her rosary group, and challenging her brain with trivia, crosswords, and continually learning about medicine and healthy living.  She was steadfast in her catholic faith and her compassion for others was truly remarkable.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 4th from 5pm-7pm with a rosary at 6pm at Haisley Funeral Home located at 3015 Okeechobee Road, Fort Pierce.  A funeral mass will take place on Friday, April 5th at 10:00am at St. Marks Catholic Church, 1924 Zephyr Ave, Fort Pierce, FL.   A reception will immediately follow the mass at the St. Marks Social Hall.  Interment will be at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Royal Palm Beach, FL at a date to be determined.
