Mary Anne Brenfleck Patan, 71, died May 25, 2012 in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Mary Anne Patan was predeceased by her beloved Mother, Thelma Brenfleck Koester.
Mary Anne Patan was born June 25, 1941 in New York. She moved to Ft. Pierce in 1995 with her then husband John Patan.
As a young woman, Mary Anne loved to travel and did so quite extensively. She worked at a law firm in Manhattan as an accountant.
During her career, Mary Anne was very active in politics and was a lifelong Republican. She was friends with Rudy Giuliani and helped on his various campaigns throughout his career in politics. In fact, she was instrumental in getting him to stop along the Treasure Coast during his bid for the Presidency.
Mary Anne lived her life adhering to true Republican values. Once arriving in St. Lucie County, she set out helping various Republican Candidates, both on a local and state wide level. She was a pillar of the Republican community in that she held the offices of Treasurer and was elected 5 times as President of the St. Lucie County Republican Club.
Mary Anne was widely known across the state as a dedicated Republican and knew almost every elected official across the state.
Mary Anne was also very active and dedicated to the Healthy Start Coalition of St. Lucie County, where she served as a board member from 2005. She was named Board Member of the Year in 2009. She was still an active board member upon her death.
Mary Anne also served on the Home Owners Association Board at her residence: Sea Point Towers. She was a Past President and served on numerous committees for the Association.
One of Mary Anne’s other passion’s was her love of the Red Hat Society. She was a Queen Mother to the “South Beachy Babe’s” Red Hat Group.
Survivors include her step-son and wife Robert and Linda Patan, granddaughters, Gina and Melissa, niece and nephew Tara and Ian Ayres and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her niece Karen E. Ayres.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 4:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, 3015 Okeechobee Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34947. Friends are encouraged to sign the online guestbook at www.haisleyfuneralhome.com
