Mary Streander Johnson,78 of Port St. Lucie lost her battle with cancer and passed away peacefully October 10, 2011.
She is survived by her three daughters: Kathryn Duncan,Port St Lucie; Brenda Ware (Russ), Temple Terrace; and Susan Rinker (Terry), Riverview and five grandchildren: Stefanie and Beckie Ware, Ashton and Rob Rinker, and Vernon Duncan III ( Renee).
Mary moved to Florida from Philadelphia to attend Stetson University, Deland after graduating from Stratford College of Danville, Virginia. Mary worked for the Temple Terrace Recreation Department for 18 years prior to moving to Port St Lucie where she helped Kathryn raise dairy goats on Double Delight Farm. She enjoyed sports and the outdoors, worked with many programs including Leagurettes, Senior Olympics and Summer programs for the Temple Terrace Recreation Dept.
Her family requests in lieu of flowers a memorial donation be sent to Treasure Coast Hospice, 5000 Dunn Road Ft Pierce FL 34981.
A celebration of life will take place at the Omar K Lightfoot Recreation Center, in Temple Terrace on October 28 2011 at 5pm.
