Maureen Hammond Elam of West Liberty, KY and Port St Lucie, FL passed away June 20, 2017 at the age of 92.
Born on October 11, 1924 at Cottle, KY , she was preceded in death by her parents, Cassie (Burton) and Herbert Hammond and three siblings, brother Harold, sisters Bettie Lykins and Jean Owney.
Maureen shared a 70 year marriage with the late James W. Elam. Together they raised three children.
As a faithful Christian she was generous with her time and service to the community. She was active in business as owner of the Freezer Fresh and Elam Jewelry Store for many years. Maureen was devoted to her children and all their interests. She was a shining example of motherhood.
Maureen is survived by an adoring family. Son Jim (Chris) of Port St Lucie, Fl daughters Pam (Jack) Stanford of Huntersville, NC and Tommye Barie of Sarasota, FL, two grandchildren Josh Elam , Morgan (Harry) Sargeant, two great grandchildren PJ and Harry Sargeant, sister Billie Buchanan and many special nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11:00 am followed by A Celebration of Life 12:00 pm at the West Liberty Christian Church, West Liberty, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to West Liberty Christian Church, 304 Prestonburg Street, West Liberty, Kentucky 41472.
