Maurice Vincent also affectionately called “Larry” and “Uncle” passed away peacefully on December 13, 2022 at age of 88.
Maurice was born in Georgetown, Guyana, South America on November 6th, 1934 to the late Cecil Glasgow and late Marie Vincent Glasgow. Maurice had 8 siblings and 7 of whom preceded him.
Maurice attended Demerara Technical School, where he completed studies in Welding and excelled in Pipe, Fabrication, Structural steel, and acetylene gas burner welding; and obtained a certificate as a “coded welder.”
Maurice served in the Guyana Military Defense for 4 years. He was employed with the Alcan Bauxite Co. for 13 years, before migrating to the United States in 1969.
Maurice found pleasure in gardening and in listening to his short-wave radio, that is until computers took over.
Maurice resided in Montclair, New Jersey for many years and later on in South Orange, New Jersey. He relocated to Port St. Lucie in 1991, when Port St. Lucie Blvd consisted of 2 lanes of traffic: one going east and one going west.
In 1994, he obtained another certificate in welding from IRCC; where he amazed them with his welding skill and was often referred to as “Prof.”
Maurice will be sadly missed by his wife, Valry; his sister, Jean; his children, Carl, Carmelita, Sharon, Sally, Deon, and Rhonda; grandchildren, Natasha (Gem), Nickieta, Natasha (Coombie), Jasmine, Michael, and Mark; nieces, Diana, Madonna (Donna), Gaylin, Michelle, Ingrid, and JoAnna; nephews, Leslie, Ernest, Victor, Donald, Peter, Curtison, Malcolm, David, and Jason. Several great-nieces and nephews, many great-grandchildren; loving cousins, Audrey and Brenda and a host of friends will also mourn the loss of Maurice.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 1PM to 3PM with a service to be conducted at 3PM at the Haisley Tribute Center 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd Port St. Lucie, FL 34984.
