Michael J. Coughlin

Michael J. Coughlin, 65, of Port St. Lucie, FL passed peacefully at his home on June 9, 2023. Michael, beloved husband of Patricia (Buckley) Coughlin was born January 11, 1958, in Bridgeport, CT, son of the late James and Peg (Tomlinson) Coughlin. 

Mike attended St. Joe’s and St. Paul’s in Bristol, CT and graduated from St. Michael’s College in Burlington VT, where many lasting friendships began.  “Mr. C” taught at Fort Pierce Central High School, PSL and the Lucanus School, Hollywood FL, for many years.  He was always a champion of the underdogs, be it in life or a NY sports team.  Mike was a great sports lover, JV football coach and coordinator and volunteer for the Special Olympics.

Mike’s greatest pride was his family.  He is survived by his wife Patty, daughter Jessica (John) Ciufo, and son Eddie (Katie) Jaksevicius.  Grandchildren Dylan, Jacob, Johnny, Legend, and Aurora.  Siblings Mary (John) Smith, John (Linda) Coughlin, Katie (Doug) Coughlin, Peg (John) Grenier, Tish (Eric) Ramstrom and Anne (Dave) Harrington.  Many, many nieces and nephews and friends he thought of as family.  Mike was predeceased by his parents and father-in-law Thomas Buckley. 

Family and friends in Florida are invited to gather from 10AM to 1PM on  Saturday, June 24, 2023 and a Memorial Service will be held from  11AM to 12PM at the Haisley Tribute Center, 2041 S.W. Bayshore Blvd, Port St. Lucie. 

A Connecticut Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday July 8, 2023, 9:00am at St. Thomas Church, 1 East Main St, Thomaston, CT.
