Michael Dermuid Cunningham, 71, of Port St. Lucie, FL, passed away on April 7, 2018. He was born to Emily (Cropsey-Kelly) and Thomas Cunningham on August 20, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY, the oldest of four children.
Michael graduated from Farmingdale High School in 1964. He went on to serve as a Combat Engineer and Military Police in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968, earning the rank of Sergeant. Awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Michael married Lorraine Dubikowicz in 1969 and they lived on Long Island before relocating to Port St. Lucie in 1990. Michael was an automotive parts manager. He served his communities proudly as a volunteer firefighter for the Fire Department in Farmingdale, NY, and the North Sea Fire Department in Southampton, NY, as well as a volunteer paramedic for the American Legion Post #924 Ambulance Unit of Hampton Bays, NY. He also volunteered as a coach for the Little League in Hampton Bays.
Michael is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Lorraine; his two children, Colleen and her husband Terry of Holbrook, MA; and Michael of Fort Sam Houston, TX; his three grandchildren, Ethan, Reid and Emma of Erie, PA; and his brother, Brian of Skaneatelis, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Thomas and Glenn.
The family would like to extend gratitude to the staff at St. Lucie Medical Center and Treasure Coast Hospice.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Haisley Tribute Center 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd Port St. Lucie. His family will greet family and friends at the visitation from 12pm to 2pm. Service will follow at 2pm.
