Michael J Hendricks

We are sad to announce the passing of Michael John Hendricks from Fort Pierce. He died at the age of 81 on October 10, 2023.
Mike passed surrounded by his loved ones after a battle with prostate cancer.

The funeral will be October 18 at Haisley Funeral Home located at 3015 Okeechobee Rd. Fort Pierce,FL 34497.

Mike was born in London England during World War II and came to America at the age of five. He grew up in Melbourne, Florida and graduated from The Bolles Academy in Jacksonville Florida. Shortly thereafter joined the U.S. Army and served our country for four years. He was one of the most patriotic men you will ever meet!

Married Phyllis Milton of Melbourne Florida, at the age of 24, had his first child, Michelle at the age of 25, had his second child, Erica, at the age of 28.

He joined the Delray Beach Fire Dept. at the age of 30 and retired in 2001. The Delray Beach Fire Department was like family to us and a strong brotherhood.

He welcomed his grandchildren Jaclyn in 1990 and Carmen in 2003. He loved being Papa to his two granddaughters. He love mimicking camera poses with them. Papa was always their encourager. He was their hero!

He shared his love of cooking, fishing, golfing, shooting and politics. Taught us how to play and understand football. Saturday’s we watched Alabama football “Roll Tide”. He was happily swayed into watching FSU to support his granddaughter. 

He enjoyed fun times with his friends, especially Terry Guidebeck at Dave’s Diner almost every day of the week for breakfast. He enjoyed playing Texas hold ‘em with a group of guys in Fort Pierce every Thursday night.

Mike and Phyllis loved traveling and creating many great memories with many close friends.

Mike is survived by his wife, Phyllis, his daughters, Erica, and Michelle & his son-in-law Gil, and his granddaughters, Jaclyn and Carmen.

We will all miss him tremendously.
