Michael P. McMahon, 61, died February 26, 2009, in Port St. Lucie, FL.
Michael was born in Lawrence, MA and was a resident of Port St. Lucie since 1962, coming from Lawrence, MA.
He was a teacher in the St. Lucie County School system since 1986 and has been at Mariposa Elementary in Pt. St. Lucie since its opening in 1992. He was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church, always very athletic having completed three marathons and completed several centuries on his bicycle and the Cross Florida Ride three times. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during the Vietnam era, was a Teacher of the Year for 2004 at Mariposa Elementary School, an avid camper and bicyclist.
Memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospices, 1201 S.E. Indian Street, Stuart, Florida 34997.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Julia McMahon of Port St. Lucie, FL; son, Michael P.(Tori) McMahon, II of Beaufort, SC; daughter, Heather McMahon of Port St. Lucie, FL; brother, Dennis McMahon of Vero Beach, FL; mother, Reta Johnson of Ft. Pierce, FL and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, March 6th from 5 to 8:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated at St. Anastasia Catholic Church on Saturday, March 7th at 10:00 A.M. Full Military Honors will be conducted following Mass.
