Michael “Mike” Sokobin, 83, of Port St. Lucie, Florida passed away at his home with family on November 20, 2021.
Mike was born October 4, 1938 in Bloomfield, New Jersey to Harold and Hazel Sokobin. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1956 and graduated from Michigan State in 1960, before joining the United States Army in 1961. He married Helene Joyce Samrick on January 14, 1962.
Mike worked for the Brody Corporation in New York City for 6 years before purchasing Montclair Seafood in Montclair, New Jersey. He owned and operated the wholesale fish business, as well as the Crabby Lobster restaurant. Mike was a member of the Benai Jeshurun congregation in Short Hills, New Jersey.
Mike loved spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandchildren. He enjoyed attending, and watching sports including golf, football, soccer, and hockey. Mike spent time fishing, skiing, gardening and traveling. He was always available to tell a great story to friends and family.
Survivors include wife of 59 years, Helene Sokobin of Port St. Lucie, FL; son, Marc and wife, Lisa Sokobin; grandchildren, Rachel, and Emily all of Dix Hills, NY; daughter, Debbie and husband, Randy; grandchildren, Zachary, Justin and Brandon all of Lyndhurst, OH; sister, Carol Dreyfuss of Arnold Maryland. He was predeceased by parents, Harold and Hazel Sokobin.
