He passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024, in Port St. Lucie, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. Miguel was not only known for his kind and loving nature but also for his remarkable dedication to his country, which he demonstrated through an admirable 30 years of military service across the Army, Navy, and Reserves.
Throughout his distinguished military career, Miguel was honored with numerous accolades, including two Purple Hearts and multiple service medals for good conduct. His commitment and bravery were further recognized with the Korean Service Medal, bearing two Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. His legacy of service and sacrifice remains an inspiration to all who knew him.
Miguel is survived by his devoted spouse, Ana R. Alvarez, and a cherished family that includes his children: Miguel, Amaury, Diego, Wanda, Heriberto, Matilde, Jesus, Gamalier, and Milka. He was a proud grandfather to 21 grandchildren and had the joy of watching his family grow with 46 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cecilia Quiles, father, Bruno Alvarez, and brother, Angel Alvarez, as well as his brother Francisco Alvarez. The love he held for his family extended to his grandchildren, Daphne, Miguel, Jr., and Tonya, who will always remember the warmth and guidance he provided throughout their lives.
As we remember Miguel Alvarez Quiles, we honor his spirit of kindness, love, and dedication to family and country. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Miguel Álvarez Quiles, una figura querida por muchos, nació el 12 de deciembre de 1931 en Ponce, Puerto Rico. Falleció pacíficamente el 7 de diciembre de 2024 en Port St. Lucie, Florida, rodeado de su amada familia. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 9AM to 11AM with a Funeral Service to start at 11AM at Haisley Tribute Center 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd Port St. Lucie, FL 34984. Burial will take place at 2PM at South Florida National VA Cemetery Lake Worth, FL.
