Mildred Miller

d. August 15, 2018

Mildred Miller went to be with her Lord on August 15, 2018 in Tuscumbia, Alabama, at age 93.

Born in Texas, Mildred lived most of her life in Fort Pierce. She and her husband Felix moved there in 1948. She was born in Texas to strong pioneer stock and had ancestors who fought in the Texas Revolution. She was proud of her roots and kept her accent all her life. During WWII, she worked for the civil service at both Kelly Field AFB and Ft. Sam Houston. It was during that time that she met Felix and they married. But Fort Pierce was home.

A faithful member of First Baptist Church of Ft. Pierce for almost 70 years, she loved her church and her church family. She was faithful to her ministry at Abby Jean Nursing Home until she moved to Alabama in 2016. She was also practicing Pilates at classes until almost age 92.

Her interests have been as diverse as opera and wrestling matches at the old Civic Center. She and Felix loved old cars and car shows and she was a book lover from an early age.
Mildred served in the family business, Miller’s Plumbing, as bookkeeper for 20 years until she and Felix both retired and “closed the door in ’84”.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Felix. Her parents, and four of her sisters and a brother preceded her to glory and she was also preceded by sons Steve Miller and Rodney Miller.

Survivors include daughter Linda Kocisek, one sister, Betty Minor, daughter-in-law Darlene Gowen, four grandchildren, three grandchildren adopted by love, and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church.

A celebration of Mildred’s life will be held on Sunday, October 14th at 4 PM at First Baptist Church, 4500 S. 25th Street, Fort Pierce. A devotional will be followed by a time to share memories and then fellowship. Bring your memories.
