Mildred “Millie” Barbare
Born October 2, 1928 in Greenville, SC to the late Ben and Mittie Wells, Millie left this earth on March 15, 2012. Millie graduated from Parker High School in 1946 and worked in Washington, DC during World War II.
Having lived in Fort Pierce for 55 years, Millie wore many hats. She was wife, mother, grandmother, and she also worked for several businesses during her 83 years, including Lurias, The Picadilly, and Piper Aircraft in Vero. One of her most favorite things in the world was spending time with her grandchildren, giving her many hours of pleasure. She also loved going out to breakfast and seeing all her friends especially at Mickey’s Restaurant.
Besides her parents, Millie was preceded in death by her sister, Janice Chapman. She will be greatly missed by her two sons and daughter-in-laws, Bill and Cookie Barbare and Don and Ann Barbare; Mark Lyda, who she loved like a son; four grandchildren Drew (Karen) Barbare, Kelly (John) Blair, Michael Barbare and Jennifer Barbare; and four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Aaren and Brantley Blair and Hannah Barbare; along with her caregiver, Edith Martin.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Treasure Coast or a charity of one’s choice.
Friends may call on Monday, March 19, at Haisley Funeral Home Chapel, from 5-7PM. There will be a graveside service at White City Cemetery, on Tuesday, March 20, at 10AM.
