Reverend Minnie Jones, 80, of Port St. Lucie FL, was called home on February 6th, 2025 after a courageous health battle. Born February 22, 1944 in Kentucky , she was one of eight children born to James & Vida Carter. After settling in Indianapolis with her first husband, she relocated to Florida in 1969.
Minnie spent the majority of her life as a champion for the faith, serving God’s people. She had a heart for the broken and addicted, and made it her life’s work to lead people to freedom in Christ. Although she had 6 children of her own, she was a spiritual Mother to many and loved people just as they were – never judging or condemning. She was an advocate for AA, Celebrate Recovery, and a believer in the 12-step lifestyle. She served for 9 years as an Ordained Minister of the Gospel at Whole Heart Church in Port St. Lucie, and held many small gatherings at her home, sharing God’s Word, and stories of hope and encouragement to all. Her door was always open, and no one left without getting prayer or a special blessing or being anointed with her special oil. She was an unapologetic Patriot, and proud to be an American. She enjoyed her daily cup of coffee with whipped cream, card games, gardening, and gave the best back scratches and arm tickles – especially to her Grandkids. Her legacy of faith and her warrior spirit will live on for generations to come, and in the hearts of those blessed to know & love her.
As the Matriarch of a very large family, Minnie is survived by her 5 sons, Barry (Patty) Jones, Brian Jones, Brad Jones, Brent (Candy) Jones & Byron Jones, 20 grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved baby Sister and caretaker, Ann Barnes, her dear Brother, Jimmy Carter, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James & Vida, siblings, Lucille, Carlos, Jean, Elsie & Helen, Father of her Children, Robert Jones, her late Husband, Thomas Turnage, and her son, Boyd Jones.
Her time on this earth has come to an end, but her next chapter is just beginning. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
