Monserrate “Big Joe/ El Gordo” Ruiz, 57, died March 30, 2010 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Ruiz was born in Puerto Rico and was a lifelong resident of Ft. Pierce.
He was a volunteer with the Hispanic Community.
Survivors include his companion, Yessica Villanueva of Ft. Pierce, FL; mother, Baldomera Ruiz of Ft. Pierce, FL; sisters, Maria Ponce of Aspers, PA, Brenda Meadows of Ft. Pierce, FL, Mary Velasquez of Newnan, GA, Anna Ruiz of Ft. Pierce, FL and Carmen Arbelo of Ft. Pierce, FL; brothers, Jose Ruiz of Ft. Pierce, FL and David Ruiz of Kissimmee, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, Fabian Ruiz, brothers, Frank and Alberto Ruiz, and sister, Phyllis Galan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Liver Foundation, 75 Maiden Lane, Suite 603, New York, NY 10038.
Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, April 2, 2010 from 1-2 PM with a service to follow at 2:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Park.
