Muriel Eurita Schmitt

d. July 23, 2007

Muriel Eurita “Rita” Schmitt died July 23, 2007 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Rita was born in Barbados, British West Indies and after traveling the globe for much of her life, she settled in Ft Pierce, FL some 12 years ago, by way of Puerto Rico.Throughout her life, she worked as a Manager for the Navy Exchange in both Great Lakes, IL and Portsmouth, VA while also serving as Ombudsman at both Great Lakes Naval Base as well as San Miguel Naval Base in the Philippines. During her time in Ft. Pierce, she was an active member of her community as well as a longstanding member of the Pelican Yacht Club. She greatly enjoyed the time she spent as part of the Pelican’s Ladies Auxiliary Bridge Club and the S.P.T. Bowling Team. When Rita wasn’t busy with community events, she enjoyed exploring her creative side, which has been oft demonstrated by her love for painting, sewing, crocheting, cooking and numerous other artistic interests. Rita lived her life with a smile on her face and always a dance in her step, serving as a constant reminder to us all to do as she did by living each day to its fullest. She was the life of the party and all who came into contact with her became infected with her same sense of enjoyment. Rita was the matriarch of a loving, large and very extended family. Her love did not need to be bound to you by blood, as she loved all people for what is in their hearts and their souls. Rita was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She was also a lady in every sense of the word. A lady whose beauty, class, grace, smile and heart will live on forever, in each person she ever touched.Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Jerry Schmitt of Ft.
