Nell Hall Herrington
Nell Herrington made her transition on May 2, 2016. She died peacefully at home, with angels by her side. There is much gratitude to those angels, Katherine, Jan, and Margaret.
Nell was born in 1931 in Dwale, Kentucky to Abe and Emma Hall. The family eventually moved to Ashland, Kentucky, and then to Fort Pierce, Florida around 1960.
She was preceded in death by her parents Abe and Emma Hall; her beloved son, James Everett Pelfrey “Butch”; and brothers, Walker, Bob, and Dick Hall.
Nell is survived by her daughter, Mildred Pelfrey Fennig “Mille” and husband Stan of Dallas, Texas; grandkids, Melissa Doss of Dallas; and Jason Staples and wife, Jennifer of Richardson, Texas. There are four grandchildren, Alex Doss, Madelyn Doss, Becca Staples and Scott Knight, all of Texas; two brothers, David Hall and wife Patti, of Port Saint John, Florida, and Mark Hall and wife Winona of Vero Beach, Florida. There are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins in Florida and Kentucky.
Nell retired from Lawnwood Medical Center after 27 years where she worked in numerous positions starting as a switchboard operator, and admitting clerk, moving to Medical Records, and working in the cashier’s office when she retired.
She loved her family and her church. She also loved music from John Prine, Elvis, to the opera Carmen. She also loved spending time with family and friends in Florida, Texas, and Kentucky.
Her greatest gifts included telling wonderful stories and making people laugh and feel loved. Her many wonderful attributes included honesty, loyalty, and the ability to always pull for the underdog.
Nell felt betrayed by her failing health stating, “one day, I woke up old and sick”. Her health had deteriorated rapidly in the last few months. She had planned to move to Dallas for a few months but couldn’t make the trip. She will always be in the hearts of those who love her.
