Newton “Red” Myers, age 89 years, a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, and brother-in-law, passed away on August 8, 2023 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.


Red was born on July 24, 1934 in Wyandotte, Michigan. He married Joyce Myers (Humphrey) on September 25, 1954, and they enjoyed almost 69 years together. They raised two children, Jeanette Myers, predeceased and Paul Myers. Red served in the Army for two years and was stationed in Germany in 1958. After his tour of duty, he worked as a pipe fitter for Ford Motor Company for 32 years and moved to Florida after his retirement in 1984. After settling in Fort Lauderdale, he and his wife started a porcelain doll making business which they owned and operated for 12 years while their son, Paul finished school and attended college at Florida State. In the year 2000 he moved to Port St. Lucie with his wife where they built their current home. Red will be remembered as a gentle, quiet and caring man. 


Newton is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Myers, and his son Paul Myers. He also leaves a daughter-in-law Lisa Myers; her two children Bret Speicher and Nicole Linsenbigler, their children, Zachary and Holly; sisters-in-law, Joan Podsaid and Marjorie Humphrey, and brother-in-law, Robert Humphrey. 


In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.


The Memorial Mass will be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church on September 21, 2023 at 10 AM.
