Nick S. Porter, 77, of Port St. Lucie, FL passed away at his home May 9, 2023.

Nick was born November 3, 1945 to Clarence and Lillian Porter in Chicago, Illinois. Nick enlisted in the United States Marine Corps December 10, 1962. He served our country proudly in Viet Nam; received the National Defense Service Medal, M-14 Rifle SS, AF Expeditionary Medal, Vietnamese Unit Citation and Good Conduct Medal before his Honorable Discharge on November 18, 1968.

Nick married his beloved Nora V. Joyce on October 16, 1967. Together they had 2 beautiful children, Joseph and Chantalle.

After being discharged from the Marine Corps, Nick went to work for Brink’s Inc and Dunbar Armored Car. Nick retired as Vice President for Brink’s Incorporated.

Nick was always very active, volunteering with the Port St. Lucie Police Department and the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Department. He was an active volunteer right up until his passing.

Nick was also an active contributor to the Wounded Warrior Project; in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Nick’s honor and name.

Nick was beloved by his family and leave to mourn his passing, sister Jo-Marie (Bruce) Gagala of Downers Grove, IL; nephew, Michael (Laura) Gagala and their children, Dylan and Owen all of Northville, MI; Niece, Karen (Todd) Roach and their children, Katie and Andrew of New Lenox, IL and nephew, Matthew (Nicole) Gagala and their son, Nathan of Mokena, IL. He will be missed greatly by his dearest friends Tomas, Myelin, Angelina and Alen Sobrino. Nick was predeceased by his beloved family, wife, Nora (2020); son, Joseph (2018); and daughter, Chantalle Phillips (2017).

He will be laid to rest at South Florida National VA Cemetery 6501 FL-7, Lake Worth, FL 33449 on Thursday June 1st 2023 at 12:30PM.
