Norman (Doc) Kleinschmidt, 96, formerly of Merrill Wisc., Ft. Lauderdale, FL (1940-1975), Okeechobee, FL, DeBary, FL and Ft. Pierce, FL passed away at Treasure Coast Hospice Center in Fort Pierce, FL on March 1, 2009.
He was preceded in death in 1996 by his wife of 55 years, Regina Hufschmid Kleinschmidt. Survivors include his four children, Joan Caperones (George) Silver Spring, MD, James Kleinschmidt (T.J. Mete) of Ft. Pierce, FL, Judy Lambert (James) of Melbourne, FL, and John Kleinschmidt (Lori) of DeBary, FL; sisters, Dorothy Seidel (Charles) of Merrill, WI and Georgina Burns (Wayne) of Waterbury, CT, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was employed by Shell Oil Company as a truck driver, Broward County School Board as a heavy equipment operator, and former owner of Doc’s Tool and Mower Shop in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
From 1945-1960 he flew rescue missions as a pilot for the Civil Air Patrol. He served in WWII in the Army Air Corps as a supervisory mess sergeant and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 4:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce, FL. Another memorial service will be held on March 8, 2009 at Altman-Long Funeral Home in DeBary, FL.
