Norman L. Paxton, Jr., 63, died October 15, 2011 in Ft. Pierce, Florida.
Mr. Paxton was born in Newport, Rhode Island and moved to Ft. Pierce 39 years ago coming from Tallahassee, Florida.
Norm was the Assistant Municipal Judge from 1974-1976, former Assistant City Attorney, and former Assistant Ft. Pierce Utilities Authority Attorney. He was a Past President of the Treasure Coast Jaycees, former Director of the Ft. Pierce Chamber of Commerce, Director and Past President of the Rotary Club of Ft. Pierce, member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, Chairperson for the Administrative Council for Community United Methodist Church, Treasurer of the Friends of the Law Library, member of the Florida Bar, and received numerous Pro Bono awards from the St. Lucie County Bar Association and Florida Rural Legal Services.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Barbara Paxton of Ft. Pierce, FL; daughter, Jessica Paxton of Chicago, IL; son, Robert (Megan) Paxton of Cocoa, FL; brothers, Arthur (Helen) Paxton of Montclair, NJ and Charles (Cena) Paxton of Riverview, FL; sister, Sarah (Gil) Knight of Cleveland, SC; granddaughter, Karina Paxton Filoteo.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community United Methodist Church, 3114 Okeechobee Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34947 or to the Salvation Army, 3629 S. US Hwy 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34982.
Services: A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Community United Methodist Church.
