Norris Schleeter

Norris Schleeter, 77, passed away on January 25, 2017.

Norris Schleeter was born in Lexington, Nebraska on June 7, 1939, the descendant of Norwegian mariners and German craftsmen.

At age 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. In the 1960-70s, Norris lived in Omaha and Kansas City where he was an entrepreneur and in sales. In 1982 he relocated to Florida and bought and refinished a 30' sloop, the Grey Goose, anchored at Club Med in Pt. St. Lucie. Norris worked as an independent contractor in canvas construction and boat refinishing. There, he also met the love of his life, Judy Woerfel.

In 1992 they founded Grey Goose Gunsmithing, where Norris was known nationally as an expert in weapons and training. Norris was a lifelong hunter, fisher, and inventor.

He is survived by his business and life partner, Judy Woerfel, Pt. St. Lucie, FL; three children, Melanie Schleeter McCalmont, Wisconsin; Norris Schleeter, Colorado; Michael Schleeter, Florida; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and an extended loving family of friends, and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter.

A gathering will be held at the Haisley Tribute Center on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 from 3:00PM to 4:00PM with Memorial Service to follow at 4:00PM and a reception will immediately follow service.
