Pamela “Pam” Mae Osterrieder née Dalton, 71, died on April 10, 2012 after a brief illness as family held her hand all day before she passed. She was born on November 3, 1940 in Irvine, Kentucky and raised by her late grandmother, Laura Tuttle (“Mama”). There, she excelled in school and extracurricular activities, including being valedictorian and capturing many county and state sewing and cooking awards. She earned a B.A. at Morehead State University and a M.Ed. at Florida Atlantic University. After teaching English in Russell, Kentucky for a few years, she relocated with her family to Ft. Pierce in 1971. Here, she taught English, French and Latin for many years at both Westwood High School and Centennial High School. She loved the students as well as the friends she made. She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church for 40 years. In retirement, she enjoyed gardening, working puzzles, reading, travelling, playing piano, watching sports – especially college basketball – and spending time and talking with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard J. Osterrieder, of nearly 49 years. Further, she is survived by her daughter, Suzanne R. Osterrieder, her son, Erik J. Osterrieder and his spouse, John E. Maio, as well as three granddaughters. Her family will miss her very deeply as she was a devoted wife and mother to them.
