Patricia (Pat) Henrietta Brewster Hilburn, born on August 2, 1926, in Sunnyside, Georgia, passed away peacefully at Pitt County Memorial Hospital on October 10, 2010.
Pat attended Macon University in Macon, Georgia, and during WW II worked with the Red Cross at Robbins Air Force Base in Macon where she met her future husband, G. Alan (Doc) Hilburn, who was at the Naval Officer Training Center at Mercer University, after serving as a medical corpsman on the USS 682, a sub chaser, in the Caribbean. They married on March 10, 1946, and then moved to Tallahassee and Daytona Beach, Florida, before settling in Ft. Pierce, Florida, where Pat served as City Manager. As City Manager she oversaw the early redevelopment of the downtown district and the Ft. Pierce Marina.
After retirement Pat and Doc moved to Murphy, North Carolina, and then Greenville, where she enjoyed spending time with her family, singing, and sewing.
Pat Hilburn was predeceased by one son, Alan. She is survived by her husband, G. Alan (Doc) Hilburn; her children and their spouses: Gwyn Hilburn (Jim Holte), Kathy Hilburn (Martin Misner), Mitchell Hilburn, Nancy Hilburn (Bob Trenkle); and six grandchildren: Molly Hilburn-Holte, Jason Walters, Patrick Hilburn, Luke Hilburn Bernard, Rebekah Hilburn-Trenkle, Christopher Hilburn-Trenkle.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 12-1 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. A private entombment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Ft. Pierce, Florida.
